Fun with freelensing

I’ve been having a lot of fun lately with freelensing during my in-studio portrait sessions.

Photographing with the lens detached from the camera is pretty finicky. Trying to line the lens up perfectly to hone in on the focus you want is a tall order in itself, and then balance that with not letting too much light leak in to overexpose the image. It takes some patience. Not just from the photographer, but from the client too. But I absolutely love the results. You can end up with some fabulously creamy and dreamy shots that are truly unique.
